Secret of Rapture is the largest game on this site by a distance, and the one with the most behind it. Ten to fourteen hours to see the story through, five to eight if you know where you are going, and twenty-two to thirty to find everything in it. Long ago a demi-god named Malakai cut a forbidden portal out of the Elder Realms into Rapture, and wove the essence of countless souls into the fabric of the place. To the people living there he was not a visitor but a god, the architect of their fate. When what he had made stopped satisfying him, the ancient deities stripped his power and cast him into the void for fifteen thousand years. The game opens on the end of that sentence. Back in Rapture, he sends his fiends to the grand towers for the crystals. Taking them unbalances the energy of the realm, which is why everything in it has begun behaving wildly, and every essence he absorbs brings him nearer to finishing what he began. A prophecy says the chosen ones will stop him. Finding out who they are is the journey. Nine playable characters, each a real class rather than a reskin. Jett the mage, Zeke the warrior, Zebella the magic knight, Argos the canine and Haezel the summoner join you through the story. A soldier, a copycat, a white mage and a berserker are hidden, and finding them is its own reward. Combat runs on nine elements and twelve weapon families, with limit breaks that open up when a character is in genuine danger, so a fight going badly is not the same as a fight already lost. A karma system tracks what you choose. Good and evil change how people speak to you and how the world treats you, and they lead to two different endings. There are twenty-four achievements in the log and eighteen more that must be uncovered before you can even see they exist, plus a great many secrets for anyone inclined to look. A quest tracker keeps the thread so you never lose the plot in a game this size.

How to play
Arrow keys or WASD to move. Enter or Z to confirm and to talk; Escape or X to open the menu and to cancel. Combat is turn-based: choose attack, magic or a special skill for each character in turn. Limit breaks become available when a character is in real danger - they are meant to be the way out of a losing fight. The quest tracker in the menu always shows your current objective. Save from the menu, and save often: this is a long game and your progress is kept in this browser.
