Syphon Breakout is the original arcade idea with nothing added to it: a paddle at the bottom, a ball, and a wall of bricks that has to come down before your three lives do. The angle off the paddle depends on where the ball strikes it, which is the whole technique. Catch it centrally and it comes back the way it went; catch it on the edge and you can send it wide to work on a column you have been unable to reach. Clearing the awkward corners is a matter of setting that angle up deliberately rather than hoping. The ball speeds up as the wall thins out, so the last few bricks are consistently harder than the first few dozen - the classic shape of the game, and the reason a clear feels earned. It is the smallest game on the site and loads instantly. There is no progression, no save and nothing to unlock; it is a few minutes against a high score and it is meant to be exactly that.

How to play
Left and Right arrow keys to move the paddle. Click or press SPACE to launch the ball. The angle the ball leaves at depends on where it hits the paddle - use the edges to reach awkward columns. Three lives, one wall.
