About this game

Encore is an endless game staged as a theatre production, where each run is an act and the house keeps a record of everything you did in the last one. The company is small and unsettling. Vesper was told to stand still and never learned how. Bram is the Basso. Pip, the Harlequin, advises you not to applaud because it only encourages the walls. Odile is the Marionette, and she knows where the strings are because she put them there. The act continues until the house turns on you. The hook comes out, the curtain falls, and the score is what you managed before it did. Then it starts again - with the theatre remembering, which is the mechanic the whole thing turns on. Your previous performance is part of the next one. The instruction the game gives you is to outlast yourself, and that is the actual goal: not a high score in the abstract but a longer act than your last one. It is stylish, deliberately odd, and shorter per run than it first appears. The strings being cut is not the end of anything.

How to play

Arrow keys or WASD to move, Space to act. Stay on the stage and keep the house with you - when it grows restless, the hook is not far behind. Each run is a single act; the theatre carries what you did last time into the next one. ESC pauses.
