SydeScroller is an endless runner with a single input: jump. Everything else - the distance, the hazards, the coins - happens whether you are ready or not, and the whole game is in when you press. The run moves through ten distinct zones as you get further, starting on the Neon Plains and passing through Sunset Desert, Crystal Caverns, Frozen Peaks, the Cyber Grid, Volcanic Core, Sky Kingdom, Dark Forest, Electric Factory and finally the Rainbow Dimension. Each looks different and each changes the rhythm you have settled into, which is what stops a long run becoming automatic. Coins are scattered along the route, usually somewhere that costs you a slightly worse jump to collect. Taking every one is not the fast line, and deciding when to leave one is part of playing it well. There is a set of achievements to work through, from the first hop and the first death up to travelling a hundred and then two hundred and fifty metres in a single run. They are gentle early and get properly demanding, which gives a reason to keep going after the novelty of the zones has worn off. It accepts a keyboard, a mouse, a touchscreen or a gamepad, so it plays the same on whatever you opened it with.

How to play
One button to jump: SPACE, the Up arrow, ENTER, a mouse click, a tap on the screen, or A on a gamepad. That is the whole control scheme. Collect coins where the jump allows it and go as far as you can.
